Is a Law Enforcement Agency Using Zombies as DUI Prevention Tool?

On behalf of The Law Office of Jason A. Korner posted in DWI / Drunk Driving Charges on Thursday, October 31, 2013. In a matter of hours, children here in St. Louis and across the state of Missouri will be donning their capes, masks and makeup, and heading out for a night of trick-or-treating. However, children won’t be the only ones out enjoying the evening, as countless adults will also be putting on costumes and heading to parties at the homes of friends or area hotspots. Of course, one of the predominant fixtures at many of these adult-themed Halloween celebrations […]

On behalf of The Law Office of Jason A. Korner posted in Underage Drinking on Friday, October 25, 2013. At this time of the year, college campuses here in Missouri and across the nation are buzzing with activity as students prepare for mid-terms, work part-time jobs and manage a busy extracurricular calendar. Not surprisingly, many of these students somehow manage to also make time for alcohol consumption. However, a new study shows that many of them doing so are not necessarily of the legal drinking age. A group of researchers at the University of Maryland set out to examine just […]

Jefferson County Checkpoints to Continue

By Jason Korner of The Law Office of Jason A. Korner posted in DWI Checkpoints on Wednesday, October 23, 2013. Jefferson County’s Council recently voted to reject a $22,000 grant from the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission to fund Safety Checkpoints. The Council rejected the funding due to concerns over the intrusiveness of these “safety” checkpoints. It is the first time funds of this nature have been rejected by the Jefferson County Council. Although council members seem to support more traditional sobriety checkpoints, they expressed that safety checkpoints were in the best interest of Jefferson County residents. A safety checkpoint […]

On behalf of The Law Office of Jason A. Korner posted in Felony DWI on Friday, October 18, 2013. According to a recently released report, however, these restaurant goers who purposely restrict their alcohol consumption at dinner may need to start becoming even more conscientious about the number of drinks they consume. Study Shows Just How Much Alcohol Can Affect a Person’s Judgment

On behalf of The Law Office of Jason A. Korner posted in DWI / Drunk Driving Charges on Friday, October 11, 2013. One of the unfortunate realities of alcohol consumption is that it can surreptitiously affect a person’s ability to make sound judgments. For instance, many people who have consumed only a few drinks mistakenly believe that they are okay to drive home, only to find themselves in the back of a squad car a short time later after a police officer measures their breath alcohol concentration as being well over the legal limit. Interestingly, researchers at the University of […]

The St. Louis “No Refusal Zone” and Politics

By Jason Korner of The Law Office of Jason A. Korner posted in Breath Test Refusal on Saturday, January 4, 2014. St. Louis City recently set up a highly publicized “No Refusal” Zone for New Year’s Eve. The idea of a No Refusal Zone is that any person arrested for DWI who refuses to voluntarily submit to a chemical test to determine blood alcohol level will then be forced to submit to the test. The person is forced into the test because the arresting police officer and the prosecutor’s office, here the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office, will request search […]
