Nationwide Ignition Locks May Become Mandatory

On behalf of The Law Office of Jason A. Korner posted in DWI / Drunk Driving Charges on Wednesday, December 19, 2012. For those who have been convicted of a repeat DWI or DUI charge, an ignition lock may not be a new concept. Breath-activated ignition interlock devices are frequently included in the sentences of drunk driving cases, necessitating that a driver be below a strictly limited level of intoxication before being allowed to start their vehicle and get on the road. This form of extended punitive regulation may be extended nationwide to every motorist convicted of drunk driving in […]

Florissant Ups DWI Enforcement

On behalf of The Law Office of Jason A. Korner posted in DWI / Drunk Driving Charges on Wednesday, December 12, 2012. It’s the holiday season, and for a great many reasons that means that Missouri motorists will be travelling and consuming alcohol at an elevated rate. For the rest of December and even into mid-January, holiday parties and family gatherings will mix intoxication with driving. Unfortunately, for some on the road over the upcoming weeks, a drunk driving charge will become a reality. According to Florissant police, 2011 saw 234 people killed and 945 others seriously injured as a […]

From Drive-Thru to DUI

On behalf of The Law Office of Jason A. Korner posted in DWI / Drunk Driving Charges on Tuesday, December 4, 2012. Charges of drunk driving can come about in many an unexpected situation. Given the serious consequences that can follow a DUI or DWI conviction, such as a loss of divers license, hefty monetary fines, or possible prison time, St. Louis drivers who have been drinking should think twice before getting on the road. Likewise, those who have already been charged with a drunk driving offense should avail themselves of all legal options in the effort to fight or […]

Cardinals Star Dogged by Past DWI Charges

On behalf of The Law Office of Jason A. Korner posted in DWI / Drunk Driving Charges on Monday, November 26, 2012. A drunk driving conviction can be exceedingly difficult to live down, especially in today’s age of heightened information access. Long after fines, potential jail time, and probation services are in the rear-view mirror, the besmirched reputation that accompanies DWI and DUI charges may continue to cast a shadow over a driver’s actions, even if a full conviction was never reached. This Thanksgiving Day star St. Louis Cardinals third baseman David Freese was involved in a car accident that […]

Missouri City Reevaluates Underage Drinking

On behalf of The Law Office of Jason A. Korner posted in Underage Drinking on Tuesday, November 20, 2012. Although clear laws and penalties for underage drinking are on the books across Missouri, debate over how best to handle the issue continues. As legal statutes are studied and possibly reconfigured, both minors and adults of legal drinking age need to keep abreast of national, state, county, and city policies. Currently Cape Girardeau is in the middle of reviewing its legal language on underage drinking, specifically regarding minor-aged patrons of bars and restaurants where alcohol is sold. On the table is […]

Man Convicted of DWI After Driving an ATV on Private Property

By Jason Korner of The Law Office of Jason A. Korner posted in DWI / Drunk Driving Charges on Wednesday, May 22, 2013. To be guilty of a DWI in Missouri there is no requirement that a person is driving a car or that he is driving on a public road. A Warren County man was recently convicted of driving an ATV while intoxicated in his friend’s front yard. The man had prior convictions and received a fifteen year prison sentence even though he was never behind the wheel of a car. There are two major issues in this case. […]

An Imperial man faces felony DWI charges stemming from an incident where a police officer arrested the man at his home. A Missouri State Highway Patrolman found the man’s wrecked car, but no one was near the car. The officer then ran a search on the vehicle and proceeded to the owner’s house. Panel Recommends Decreasing Legal Blood-Alcohol Concentration

On behalf of The Law Office of Jason A. Korner posted in DWI / Drunk Driving Charges on Thursday, May 16, 2013. Nearly a decade ago, U.S. Congress prodded states into lowering the acceptable blood-alcohol concentration for drivers to 0.08 percent. Since that time, Missouri has followed along and enforces that limit in drunk driving cases. More recently, however, the National Transportation Safety Board encouraged states to reduce the legal limit even further. According to the panel, the legal limit should be set at 0.05 percent, which is a significant change from the current laws. This move is being suggested […]

DWI Arrests Posted on Twitter by Minnesota State Patrol

By Jason Korner of The Law Office of Jason A. Korner posted in DWI / Drunk Driving Charges on Monday, May 13, 2013. People arrested for DWI will now have their age and gender posted on Twitter by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety. On May 10th the Minnesota Highway Patrol launched a crackdown on drunk driving that included posting the location of all drunk driving arrests along with the demographic information of the person arrested. It appears the original idea was to post the names of the people arrested for drunk driving as a way to publicly shame them. […]
