One DWI, Two Very Different Breath Tests

By Jason Korner of The Law Office of Jason A. Korner posted in DWI / Drunk Driving Charges on Wednesday, October 9, 2013. “The Officer Had Me Blow Twice in My DWI Case” Frequently during new client consultations for DWI cases I hear, “They had me blow twice.” Usually this means the police officer administered a preliminary breath test at the scene, prior to placing my client under arrest, then administered an evidentiary breath tests once back at the station. There are times when no preliminary breath test is given, and other times when the evidentiary breath test takes place […]

Bills Would Give Students Immunity from Underage Drinking Charges

On behalf of The Law Office of Jason A. Korner posted in Underage Drinking on Friday, October 4, 2013. One of the unfortunate realities when it comes to underage drinking and college students is that it often crosses the line from mere experimentation to dangerous overindulgence. Indeed, statistics have shown that levels of binge drinking among college students continue to rise despite the education and enforcement efforts of officials at schools here in Missouri and throughout the U.S. Interestingly, lawmakers in the state of Wisconsin are considering a somewhat novel approach to the problem of underage drinking: granting both academic […]

Whether it be the exchange of gifts, reunions with loved ones, or contributing to a charitable community, the traditions typically associated with this of year center around giving and happiness. One possible gift many Missourians will receive this time of year however is neither desirable nor happy, and is has the potential to be more expensive than any other they will be given: a […]

Nationwide Ignition Locks May Become Mandatory

On behalf of The Law Office of Jason A. Korner posted in DWI / Drunk Driving Charges on Wednesday, December 19, 2012. For those who have been convicted of a repeat DWI or DUI charge, an ignition lock may not be a new concept. Breath-activated ignition interlock devices are frequently included in the sentences of drunk driving cases, necessitating that a driver be below a strictly limited level of intoxication before being allowed to start their vehicle and get on the road. This form of extended punitive regulation may be extended nationwide to every motorist convicted of drunk driving in […]

For the rest of December and even into mid-January, holiday parties and family gatherings will mix intoxication with driving. On behalf of The Law Office of Jason A. Korner posted in DWI / Drunk Driving Charges on Tuesday, December 4, 2012. Charges of drunk driving can come about in many an unexpected situation. Given the serious consequences that can follow a DUI or DWI conviction, such as a loss of divers license, hefty monetary fines, or possible prison time, St. Louis drivers who have been drinking should think twice before getting on the road. Likewise, those who have already been charged with a drunk driving offense should avail themselves of all legal options in the effort to fight or […]
